Order Bees And Hives

display divider

If you are new to beekeeping, you're in the right place

You have options for ordering bees with or without equipment.

We understand that many first-time beekeepers have never handled a hive before, and we are happy to help guide you through the process. Understanding your options before placing an order makes planning easier and helps you choose the setup that best fits your budget and goals.

Hive systems are modular. This means the boxes can be added or removed as the colony grows and changes throughout the year. Starting with a base unit and expanding as needed is the standard and most practical approach.

Beginning with a unit such as our Single Hive Sets allows you to add additional boxes during the growing season as your colony expands. Planning for that growth early will help you stay ahead of the bees.

If you already have hive equipment (the woodenware) and only need bees to install into it, we offer nucleus colonies, commonly called β€œNucs.” See Nuc of Bees for details and ordering options.

When a complete setup is needed, we offer several hive set options. All of our hive sets include:

  • Telescoping Top with Inner Cover
  • Screen Bottom Board with removable debris board
  • Industry-standard Langstroth 10-frame hive body

The telescoping top and inner cover are designed to function together and remain paired. They sit on the uppermost hive body and help regulate ventilation and protection throughout the year.

We offer three primary hive configurations, all built with interchangeable components compatible with standard Langstroth style 10-frame equipment.

Our Beginner’s Special β€” the Apiary Starter Kit β€” includes a hive set, bees, basic tools, and a seat in our Basic Beekeeping Class, making it a complete starting solution. Protective gear is available in multiple styles and sizes, so it is offered separately to allow you to select the best options suited for your comfort level and fit. Visit our Protective Gear section for details.

You may also choose to order hive sets with or without a nuc of bees installed. Finishing options include white painted equipment or hot wax dipped wood, which offers a natural appearance and extended durability with minimal maintenance.

Available Options:

  • Nuc of Bees β€” For those who already have equipment and only need bees.
  • Single Hive Sets β€” A complete single-story hive setup.
  • Honey Super Deluxe β€” A Single Hive Set with an additional Medium box and frames.
  • Double Deep Set β€” A Single Hive Set with an additional Deep box and frames.
  • Apiary Starter Kit β€” A Honey Super Deluxe with a standard hive tool, a smoker, and a seat in the Basic Beekeeping Class.

Additional boxes and equipment are available with or without frames. Most colonies will require expansion space during the growing season, so planning ahead is recommended.
